Wat is Tretinoïne crème/ Vitamine A-zuur crème?

Hanging corners of your mouth can be synonymous with a self-fulfilling prophecy. There are people who become very gloomy about the effect that drooping mouth corners have on your appearance.

What is Tretinoin Cream/Vitamin A Acid Cream?

What is Tretinoin Cream/Vitamin A Acid Cream?

Vitamin A acid acts like a ‘conductor of the skin’. It stimulates the division of the skin, rejuvenating the old skin layer and making it look fresher and more radiant.

With age, skin cells divide more slowly, making the skin less fresh/vial. By using  Vit A-acid ‘transforms’ the skin, removing old dead skin cells and replacing them with young new cells.
Skin cells that divide too quickly, such as with pigmentation spots, are calmed by the transformation. The skin comes into balance and signs of premature aging are corrected.

How do you use vitamin A acid?

How do you use vitamin A acid?

The skin has to get used to vitamin A acid.
If you don’t build it up slowly, you can ‘overload’ the skin.

Prevent irritation from vitamin A acid

Prevent irritation from vitamin A acid

It almost sounds too good to be true: a cream that can rejuvenate your skin.

However, this always goes slower than you hope and expect. Vitamin a acid can be very irritating to the skin and it is important to build up usage slowly. If you don’t do this and use more, the skin can become irritated.

Skin irritation from Tretonoin can manifest itself in the following way:
– redness, dry skin, flaking, burning sensation.
This can lead to the exact opposite effect; the tretinoin damages the skin causing it to age!

Use of tretinoin

Use of tretinoin

– Use at night only.

– 1-2x a week  apply thinly on clean, dry skin.

– Do you use tretinoin more than 2x a week:

  • then you run the risk of having many more side effects
  • then you will probably develop a hypersensitivity in the longer term
  • you will not get smoother skin.
More lubrication therefore does not lead to better skin, but it does lead to irritation!

– After applying the tretinoin cream, you can use a good moisturizing cream. In the beginning (and with overuse) your skin has more trouble retaining moisture, which can make the skin feel drier.

– On the days that you are not using the tretinoin cream (and for cleaning, moisturizing and protecting the skin) we recommend Skinceuticals.
This base of this care line contains high doses of vitamin C.

– AVOID SUN
It is important to protect the skin with an SPF.

-In the summer it is best to moderate the use of tretinoin cream. Tretinoin ensures that your skin reacts strongly (more) to sunlight.

– If you have irritation, you can choose to

  • Use less often
  • apply thinner
  • avoid the areas of irritation (be careful not to unintentionally spread the cream over your skin at night)

How quickly will you see results?
The use of this cream will soon be noticeable.

It is important to know that you may experience temporary reactions such as irregularities, redness, flaking and itching as part of the transformation of your skin. These mean that the treatment is working and are not a reason to stop the treatment.
Don’t worry, this is temporary and will pass soon!

1st phase lasts 6-8 weeks:
Your skin becomes more even in color; skin cells come into balance.

2nd phase lasts 6-8 weeks:
Your skin becomes smoother and softer; natural renewal rhythm begins to recover.

Result:
The skin looks healthier and younger, is firmer and has a natural glow.

In the 1st phase, the side effects such as redness, dryness and peeling may be stronger. This disappears as   enters the 2nd phase.

Treatment with Tretinoin never really stands alone. For the best improvement of the skin, we also advise you to consider a treatment with a skin specialist. Many people do not know that the treatment at the skin therapist (gedeeltelijk) is reimbursed by the additional health insurance.

When should you not take tretinoin?

When should you not take tretinoin?

I recommend the following people to be careful when using Treinoine:

– cosmetic allergy,
– very dry skin or
– rosacea.

Although it has not been proven that the use of creams containing vitamin A acid will harm you during pregnancy, oral use of vitamin A acid (such as in the treatment of acne) can. Therefore, to be on the safe side, it is advised to avoid vitamin A acid during pregnancy.
