What causes a nasolabial fold to appear?

What causes a nasolabial fold to appear?

A nasolabial fold is the line that runs from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. A nasolabial fold is caused by the subcutaneous fat tissue sagging down from the cheekbone (CK1, CK2 and CK3). This results in additional volume in the cheek (next to NL1, NL2 en NL3) which starts to hang over the nasolabial fold, which causes it to become deeper.

The purpose of the consultation before the nasolabial fold treatment is to align your wishes and expectations with our possibilities. During this consultation, we also map your face and create a complete picture of your appearance, expression and facial features. Depending on the situation and your wishes, we can use our 3D facial analysis or our Magic Markers Method. According to the principle of the whole face approach, in which we look beyond the area that is to be treated. We will always create a treatment plan designed for you. We will ask about your medical history, previous treatments, and any use of medication. This way, we want to eliminate all potential risks and make sure you are helped in a safe way. The consultation is free of charge and without obligation.

Just as no faces are the same, also no treatments are the same. Based on the analysis of your aging characteristics made by the doctor, the amount of fillers and the treatment are determined for your face. By injecting measured amounts of fillers into the crucial places on your face, your face regains substance. The injections are actually very small pin-pricks performed by the doctor. This way, the hyaluronic acid filler is injected just under the skin, which immediately restores and rejuvenates your skin. It also causes your contours and volume to return.

Fine lines can be treated with hyaluronic acid on NL1, NL2 and NL3. When the lines are deeper we will choose to adjust some volume at the cheek bones.

After the treatment

After the treatment

The first result of the nasolabial fold treatment is immediately visible. However, it takes about two weeks for the treatment to reach its true goal. Natural beauty and the rebirth of your youthful appearance. This delay is caused by the fact that the hyaluronic acid needs time to properly settle into the surrounding tissue. Two weeks after the nasolabial fold treatment you will come back for a check-up. During the first week after the treatment, the hyaluronic acid can shift a bit and therefore look irregular. If necessary, we correct this during the check-up appointment.

Sometimes, a small bruise or swelling will appear after the treatment. This will disappears again over time. By applying cool compresses, we prevent this as much as possible and immediately initiate the recovery process. To avoid pigmentation, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight on the skin during the first few days after treatment.

The hyaluronic acid is broken down slowly over 1,5 to 2 years. There are great individual differences and usually it stays in much longer. In order to avoid a yo-yo effect, we recommend not waiting until the result has fully disappeared. Come back before everything is broken down. Preserving the effect of the nasolabial fold treatment is often a matter of maintenance. Those who repeat the nasolabial fold treatment at the first signs of decline can have years of enjoyment.

Nasolabial fold correction or an x-lift, v-lift or liquid facelift?

Nasolabial fold correction or an x-lift, v-lift or liquid facelift?

The nasolabial fold treatment is intended to solve the first signs of aging of the skin. Therefore, the treatments are very popular with younger men or woman for whom the first lines, folds and wrinkles are appearing. By treating these directly, the skin retains its youthfulness.

We often look beyond the nasolabial fold, because a local treatment is often not suitable for your expectations. We look at your whole face. We will discuss your desires during the initial consultation. Together with you, we will look at the various options, such as the X-lift, V-lift and Liquid Facelift.

A nasolabial fold treatment takes 30 minutes. This also depends on the expectations, wishes, and analysis we have established together with you during the initial consultation. What is most important is that you experience the nasolabial fold treatment as comfortable. Therefore, before we start, we give you a mild sedative. This makes the treatment basically painless. After the treatment, the skin can be massages and/or colled with a coldpack.

FAQ

FAQ

Is the treatment painful?

We can administer a topical anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort. Most clients report little or no pain during treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

Appointment times vary, depending on the desired effect, and you must attend a consultation. As a rough guide, the treatment can take around 30 minutes.

Is it safe?

Hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm or Restylane) is an endogenous substance, which means it is very safe. The body virtually does not react to it. An allergic reaction is very unlikely, and if necessary, the filler is soluble. This makes it a very suitable and safe product.

If you are younger than 18 years old, you cannot undergo cosmetic treatment at our clinic.

Will i receive guidance?

If you are afraid of needles and would still like to undergo treatment, we will provide additional guidance and ensure that you feel completely at ease. With the right tools, we can get you through the treatment without experiencing pain or distress.

How long will the results last?

The result of the filler treatment remains visible for 6 to 18 months. There are great individual differences, and usually, it says in much longer. The aging of the face continues slowly (it loses more volume), which can cause the result to decline somewhat. At this point, the filler is still present, but preservering the result with a touch-up treatment is desirable. We recommend not waiting until the result is completely gone, but coming back before everything disappears, this avoiding a yo-yo effect. We use smaller quantities during a touch-up treatment.

What if i am not satisfied?

Should you unfortunately be unsatisfied with the results, then we can easily dissolve the hyaluronic acid without any residual symptoms.
