- Oily skin
Do you have a shiny skin? Are your pores visibly enlarged and do you have pimples and blackheads on your face? Chances are you are suffering from an oily skin.
What’s an oily skin?
An oily skin is a skin that’s difficult to balance. The oily skin is usually located on the T-zone of the face: the chin, the nose and the forehead. An oily skin is a shiny skin that is thicker than a non-oily skin, because an oily skin contains more sebum. One of the advantages of an oily skin is that wrinkles occur less quickly. However, most people tend to see an oily skin as a problem.
The cause of an oily skin
An oily skin is caused by androgens. Although androgens are described as male sex hormones, both males and females have them to varying degrees. The higher amount of androgens present, the more sebum is funneled through the pores, which then sits on the surface of the skin, causing an oily sheen. Should this excess oil become trapped in the pore and combined with dead skin cells and bacteria, pore, pimples and blackheads will appear.
Symptoms of an oily skin:
- Shiny skin
- The pores are visibly enlarged, especially on the nose, chin and forehead
- Pimples and blackheads on the oily parts of the face
- Skin tone looks flaky
How to get rid of an oily skin?
At first, the use of skin drying products seems like a good idea, but in a long run it’s unwise to use these products, as these products just encourage the creation of extra sebum.
It’s important to use light and airy products, like serums and gels. These light and airy liquids will not clog the pores. This is in contrast to an oily cream.
Tips for an oily skin:
- Clean your skin twice a day, in the morning and in the evening
- Use a toner. It’s important that the toner contains antioxidants and cell-communicating ingredients.
- Use sebum absorbing products
- Only use products that are fragrance-free
Treatments for an oily skin
But there are also treatments that can help you get rid of an oily skin, for example:
NeoStrata Peeling: glycolic acid is used as an exfoliant for the skin, causing dead skin cells to release. Glycolic acid is fat-soluble and penetrates easily into the pores. The Neostrata Peeling is therefore very suitable for the treatment of an oily skin.
Carbon Laser Peeling: is one of the most effective methods for skin rejuvenation and deep skin cleansing. The Carbon Laser Peeling reduces the production of sebum, which makes it very suitable for the treatment of oily skin.
